Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba opened to a good response at the box office and made Rs 20.72 crore on its day 1. But, it has failed to beat the opening day collection of Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju.
Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba released yesterday and opened to fair occupancy in the morning shows.
Thanks to positive word of mouth by the general audience and mixed to positive reviews by the film critics, Simmba made Rs 20.71 crore on its day one beating the opening day figure of Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero which released last week to negative response and made Rs 20.52 crore.
Simmba also became Ranveer Singh’s highest opener as well beating the day one figure of Padmaavat which released earlier this year and opened to Rs 19 crore (Hindi version).
But, it still wasn’t enough as Ranveer failed to beat Ranbir Kapoor at the box office. Simmba’s opening day is no match to that of Sanju’s, which made a mammoth Rs 34.75 crore.
Not just that, Simmba (4020 screens) released in 20 screens more than Sanju (4000 screens), despite their day one business has a huge gap of Rs 14.04 crore. Another interesting thing about the two releases is that they both opened on a non-holiday.
