Police have granted the BNP permission to hold a rally at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday.

Today on Saturday BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press conference at the party headquarters in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan.

He said, `We have received permission for a rally. We can hold the rally from 2pm to 5pm. Insha-Allah we will hold a successful rally tomorrow.’

The BNP had originally planned to hold the rally on Thursday. The programme later pushed back to Saturday after party leaders said the police had granted permission for a rally to be held on a weekend or public holiday.

But a conflicting programme by the ruling Party Alliance on the same day caused a disturbance. The BNP were finally given permission to hold their rally on Sunday.
